Many people already know the story.
His name was Richard, and he was powerfully used by God in signs, wonders, and miracles. He worked with another man of God, RB, who really owned the ministry. However, because RB recognized the gifts and grace on Richard, he would preach during meetings, then step down for Richard to take over.
Richard was a solid support to RB, and their collaboration caused the ministry to flourish rapidly.
Then it happened.
Richard began to think of himself as indispensable. It was really his anointing that pulled the crowd – even though it was RB’s name on the ministry letterhead.
One day, he told RB’s assistant, “The day I leave will mark the end of RB and his ministry.”
Then they organized a crusade where they were both to minister as usual. Richard, deliberately, didn’t show up. Neither did he give information of his whereabouts.
That was the last time they ministered together.
RB waited…and waited…and waited, but Richard didn’t appear.
Disappointed, grieved, frustrated – and fearful, RB climbed on the stage, desperately dependent on the Holy Spirit…
…and God showed up – and showed off.
That was the beginning of signs, wonders, and miracles in Reinhard Bonnke’s ministry – and the beginning of the end for Richard’s ministry.
A long while passed, and one day, Richard came to one of Reinhard Bonnke’s crusades and saw multitudes he could never have imagined. When he met with Bonnke, he told him repeatedly, “I missed it. I missed it.” Then he left.
That was the last time they saw each other. Richard died shortly after.
You see, God’s plan is so big, His kingdom so eternal, and His resources so limitless – that it is a privilege to be used by Him in any capacity.
When you think you are the only able/committed/gifted/dedicated/prayerful/available one, God will calmly and quietly prove to you – like He did to Elijah – that you have seven thousand replacements.
Not seven. Or seven hundred. Seven thousand. (1 Kings 19:1)
If that’s not humbling, I don’t know what is.

One day, a Father in the faith shared how he had organized a massive meeting that had millions of people flocking in from all over the world. The testimonies were uncountable. It was the first of its kind.
After the glorious event, God appeared to him and asked him to, “Draw the figure of a man in the sand.”
Wondering, he bent down and did so.
God told him, “Erase it.”
With his feet, he brushed the figure away … and God told him, “The day you think you are irreplaceable and you share my glory, I will wipe you away like the man in the sand.”
One of the worst things that can happen to anyone is to be made irrelevant in God’s agenda – and replaced by “…another better than you.” (1 Samuel 15:28)
Just ask Saul.
