…spreading the fragrance of His knowledge…
Many years ago, God taught me to stand in His truth about me – no matter what I saw or felt. Prior to that teaching, I would speak and believe the lies of the enemy based on my feelings, circumstances or performance:
If I had failed God in any area or didn’t perform up to par, it was over. No matter what the enemy threw at me, he was justified.
Then, I began to learn…and to experience the favour of God in unusual dimensions…
A few days ago, it suddenly struck me, “Deborah, it’s been a loooong time you’ve been depressed!”
Momentarily sad, unhappy or upset due to circumstantial happenings? Oh, sure.
But depressed? It’s been ages. Literally years.
This was a miracle because, many years ago, I used to be depressed. Really depressed..
Not too long ago, I decided to pay my elder sister a visit. I didn’t tell her I was coming since I wanted it to be a surprise.
When I got to her home, I knocked on the door. Her younger son asked from within, “Who is there?”
I made my voice deep and spoke like a man, “Is that James?”
Some years ago, I got into a relationship. The sense of anxiety and fear in that relationship was overwhelming. When we were together, I was great. But when I left him, I would feel very insecure, tense and weighed down…
In my first and second year at the university, I didn’t do very well, academically. I didn’t have carryovers, quite alright, which was, of course, a reason to be thankful, but my grades were what you would call less than admirable, at a glance. To the best of my knowledge, the way I best knew how, I had put in my all, so, the poor results were a huge disappointment and quite the blow to my morale. I had wondered how I could possibly do better, or put in more work…
God doesn’t have arm-chair generals.
You cannot be a Christian – and not be involved in spiritual warfare.
If you are not experiencing attacks (or resistance) from the enemy, it is one of the following:
(1) You Are Part Of The Kingdom Of Darkness…
And God said, “It is not good that man should be alone…”
…especially in battle.
One major reason Elijah buckled under the attack of fear and depression, and fled from Jezebel – after being used powerfully by God – was because he was alone.
And the major reason Elijah was alone was pride…
What’s the best thing to do when you are worn out?
Lie down and sleep, right?
Wrong.
You get up – and eat.
Ask Elijah.
Daniel revealed that, in the last days, a major activity of the enemy would be to wear out the saints of the Most High. (Daniel 7:25) ‘Wear out’ means to tire them, wear them down, or make them weary – and connotes intensity and consistency…
