I recently shared this in a prayer meeting and thought to share publicly. It would help someone.
A few weeks ago, I started to feel physically exhausted and sleepy. I knew I had been very busy, so I initially shrugged it off. I would lie down, then sleep off immediately. I am a very light sleeper, but these times, I would sleep deeply. I thought it was mental exhaustion from work and certain situations.
However, I started getting concerned when I started to feel sleepy during church service. That was really weird. My brain kept telling me, “You are just too busy. You just need to rest.” Still, I was wary. It was affecting my prayer life and I was uncomfortable. Then I attended a service – and slept most parts of the powerful message. That was when I got really, really bothered.
Despite what my brain was saying, and the seeming external circumstances, I began to force myself to pray. If I couldn’t pray sufficiently alone, I would take advantage of prayer groups. I just felt the situation wasn’t normal.
Then, one day, I had a totally unexpected attack in the dream of the night, but, by God’s mercies, I got the victory. When I woke up, I realised clearly that the tiredness and sleepiness had been a precursor to the attack. They had been sent to weaken my prayer life, so that when the attack came, I would not be able to stand. Thankfully, I hadn’t relaxed and taken it as normal.
Remember my post on “How To Recognize You Are Under Spiritual Attack?” Exactly. The first thing the enemy does when he wants to destroy you is take away your weapons. Anything that makes you not to pray, read the word or spend time with God – especially for a period of time – is an attack. They can be legitimate, outrightly sinful, or neutral like:
-Constant busyness and work-related issues.
-Excessive indulgence in necessary activities like sleep, social media, or entertainment.
-Emotional relationships that replace/encroach into God’s time or service.
-Outrightly lustful thoughts or sinful habits that take away the pleasure of God’s presence.
Anything – and I mean, ANYTHING – that tampers with your prayer or Word life reduces your spiritual power, and makes you easy prey for the enemy.
When this happens, ask for the Holy Spirit’s help. Force yourself to spend time with God. Force yourself to read His Word. Protect, preserve and build your spiritual energy by being where you are supposed to be per time – in fellowship or service. Surround yourself with firelighters. Cut down on/shut down activities that are taking God’s place in your life.
Remember, the devil never fights clean. When he begins to weaken you, he is planning real dirty.
Be on guard.
If you want to give your life to Christ, just say with your lips, “Lord Jesus. I am sorry for all my sins. Come into my heart, forgive me and cleanse me with your Blood. I believe You died and rose again, and I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Amen.” You are welcome to the family! 🤗 Drop a note, and we will be glad to reach out!
